A work for chalk, computer keyboard, and SuperCollider released on Audition Records. Recorded while in residency at GIS Studio in Mexico City
a generative music piece ruminating on place, memory, and the expressive possibilities of algorithms as the work slowly struggles to reproduce the melody to Neil Diamond's 'Forever in Blue Jeans.' The piece is a 'love song' that traces a year of life between Los Angeles, Berlin, and Stockholm with genetic algorithms, Markov chains, spectral analysis of field recordings, and a number of samples from various objects collected over the time period.
A piece for feedback network and violin in which the output of the network is temporally dilated (read at a slower rate) then fed back into the network.

A short psychoacoustic work for live electronics.
Originally a 4 channel piece produced with the support of Chalk Hill Residency in Healdsburg, CA. Performed at Chalk Hill Residency as well as UC San Diego's Wave Energy Series.

A feedback network in which a laptop and an iPad run custom listening software (written in SuperCollider). Each one produces sound based on the other's output. By physically inserting myself into the feedback loop via a 1/4-inch jack inserted into my mouth, I can influence the network's response.

A work for any number of musicians in which pitches that are heard most often are slowly removed from the set of available pitches over the course of the piece until no more pitches are left.
This version was performed at The Pescadrome in Santa Barbara by ensemble 303 (sax - Casey Anderson, laptop - Scott Cazan, guitar - John Hastings, guitar - Mike Winter).

The title of this piece relates to the self-similar nature of the pitch material, derived from a fractal algorithm, which is used by all members of the ensemble. Performed by Ensemble Liminar.
Performed by the New Century Players (Flute: Rachel Rudich, Viola: Mark Menzies, Cello: Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick, Piano: Dzovig Markarian, Conductor: David Rosenboom).

A work for an army of megaphones demonstrating in a public space. Ordinary objects are amplified using the megaphones occasionally producing unexpected feedback. Originally scored using data collected from Google on the frequency of the word 'history' (and it's variants) over the course of our known history.
Composed for Ensemble Zwischentöne & Orchester für Direkte Demokratie.

A track composed at the San Ysidro border crossing in Tijuana, Mexico.
Part of the Khalija compilation 'Janus' which can be found here.
A work for laptop ensemble exploring emergent phenomena within a networked group. It treats the ensemble as a collection of individual actors in a network where they are able to influence each other. Each member slowly narrows their 'variance' from the pitch of the performer next to them until a generally uniform pitch or harmony emerges that can then be excited by a 'conductor.' These moments then last for as long as the group is in agreement or rather until someone begins to defect.
Performed here by The Laptop Orchestra at University of Iowa (LOUI), directed by Christopher Jette.
The score and software can be downloaded here

NTK (the NETLab Toolkit) is a visual authoring system for designers, developers, makers, researchers and students who want to design and build tangible Internet of Things projects. With a simple drag and drop interface, connect sensors, actuators, media and networks with the smart widgets. Concepts can be prototyped quickly, encouraging iteration, experimentation and testing by sketching in hardware.
A very simple network communication library for SuperCollider. Made to be flexible, simple, and immediate to setup in an ensemble environment.
I work a lot on various small open source projects for my own use as well as others. Please checkout my github for more.
